Throughout history, cultures around the world have been captivated by Turquoise. Ancient Egyptians mined Turquoise over 5,000 years ago. China has prized Turquoise for thousands of years. Persia (modern day Iran) provided high quality Turquoise for centuries. The name means “Turkish stone” as trade routes through Turkey brought Persian Turquoise to Europe during the Middle Ages. Turquoise has been spiritually, decoratively and economically significant to native peoples of the American Southwest for at least 2,000 years. Turquoise is believed to be a healing stone, providing solace for the spirit and well-being for the body.
