Ocean Jasper is prized for its varied colors and the peculiar orb patterns in the stone. A new gemstone, the source was recently discovered along the rugged northwest coast of Madagascar. A remote rock outcrop only accessible at low tide, the material was collected by hand without typical mining equipment, and transported to civilization by boat. The source was depleted within a few years. Other orbicular jaspers exist; however none are as rare or as spectacular as Ocean Jasper!
